Happy Self Harm Awareness Day everyone!
I just want to take a moment to talk a little about this issue, since it’s very close to me.
I remember when I first learned about people who self harmed.  I remember wondering why anyone would do that.  Why would someone cut their own skin on purpose?  I thought it was dumb, and I knew I would never do it.  Well, last fall, I did.  I would come home from school miserable, and then, late at night, I’d take a razor blade and make cuts on my wrist.  They were never really deep cuts.  They never bled that much.  But they were there, and I had made them, and thats what matters.
The Hunger Games was actually one of the things that helped me stop self harming.  But so was this thing called the Butterfly Project.  The idea behind it is that you draw a butterfly where you self-harm, and if you cut the butterfly, it dies.  Here’s more information: http://www.recoveryourlife.com/index.php?categoryid=148.  I drew the butterfly on my wrist today in honor of Self Harm Awareness Day.
No one should have to suffer through self-harm.  It’s awful.  I know, I’ve been there.  The worst part is feeling like you have no one to talk to, or that no one knows what you’re going through.  So my ask box is open for anyone who wants to talk.  Just send me a message.  <3
